Goat Pen

I thought I could have the goat pen built by the end of this weekend, but I didn’t quite get the job done, and that disappointed me. One of the lessons I’ve taken away from the weekend is that I can’t stuff too many expectations into how much I can get done. We really needed the goat pen to get built, but I made too many commitments pertaining to swimming at the YMCA. I certainly want to schedule plenty of play time at the Y, but this was a difficult weekend to try to work that in.
This is NOT anybody’s fault but mine, so don’t feel bad at all. I’m just saying that I need to plan my weekends a little better.
I think I can get the goat pen done by Monday night. After work, I’ll go back to Menards to get the special kind of nails and L-braces that I need, and I think that will help me finally get the job done.

Schedule for this week

Monday, April 16, 2012

Late afternoon:

Mom will take somebody to piano lessons (I can’t remember whose turn it is for this week). After work, I will go to Menards and get some more material for the goat pen and hopefully finish it off.
Suggestion to mom: cook the last chicken pot pie for dinner tonight.

Tues, April 17, 2012

7:00 a.m.: Dad bikes to work.

I’m going to bike to my work. It is a six mile bike ride and will probably take me one hour. I’m intimidated. Please pray for me.

5:30 p.m.: Dinner

We’ll have dinner together at 5:30 p.m., sharp.

6:00 p.m. Date with … somebody

The reason for our early dinner: I want to get back on the schedule for dates, and I really can’t remember who has recently gotten dates and who has not. Plus, I want to limit dates to mostly getting some coffee, drawing, playing catch, or other activities.
(I also welcome your ideas for date activities; I cannot guarantee that we’ll use your date idea, but I’ll consider it. Be sure to guard your heart, however, because if I decide not to use your idea for a date, or not use it in the near future, you must keep a cheerful heart about the matter.)

5:00 a.m.: YMCA

Chris, Lydia and Peter will go to the YMCA for swimming. Why can’t the other children come too? I’ve already talked a little about this last week, but to recap: I’m planning on bringing more children with me in the future, but I can’t take everybody all at once. I have to build up. So, this is what the schedule will look like for Mondays and Wednesdays for the next few months for Dad, Lydia and Peter:
5:00 a.m. – 5:30 a.m. – Dad, Lydia and Peter drive to Y.
5:30 a.m. – 6:30 a.m. – Swim.
6:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. – Dress.
7:00 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. – Dad drives L & P to school.
7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. – Dad drives to work.

5:30 p.m: Colette has Scouts.

I’m not sure how this will affect our dinner schedule. I hope not much, but we’ll have to talk about this.

Thursday, April 19, 2012

7:00 a.m.: Dad bikes to work.

I will be soooo sore.

10:45 a.m.: Dad lunch with Gretchen

12:20 p.m.: Dad lunch with Micah

Note: I’ve recently started a routine in which one Thursday, I’ll have lunch with Colette, and the next Thursday, I’ll have lunch with Gretchen at 10:45, and then wait at the school until 12:20 p.m., when I’ll have lunch with Micah. I would enjoy also schedule some lunch time with Lydia and Peter, but I doubt that they want this to take place at the school, right? Lydia, Peter: Let’s talk more about this.

5:30 p.m. Dinner

7:00/8:10 p.m. Dad takes/picks up Peter to/from Campus Life.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Micah has a test on the southeastern region states. Let’s be sure to pray for him.
What other prayer requests can we lift up for each other’s work and school?
Friday night: Gretchen’s birthday party starts! It goes through Saturday.

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Gretchen’s birthday party celebration goes on for the day.

Does anybody use Google Calendar?

How well does it work for you, if you use it at all?
